Darby and Dalton's Adequate Adventures

Sunday was full of adventures. First, we sailed the 7 Seas.

Then we did a little bit of very important research.

Then we braved the world of retail.  We looked at very "pretttttyyyy" tile and had to fully investigate - for a very long time in the heat - all the water features for sale at the Lowe's.  We were particularly fond of the one with Gnomes pouring buckets of water (who buys this stuff??).  We were looking for a housewarming gift for the Bridges' new house.  I told Darby she could pick it out.  I was quite proud of the job she did.  I tried to talk her into several nice options, but she held firm, and when we saw the Money Tree, in a nice little pink pot she shouted "That one!" I agree it was a nice choice.

As payment for a peaceful trip to Lowe's I had promised new balloons, so next we were off to Party City.  Not all that surprisingly they were both dead set on a purple one.  We managed to find one plain and one with stars.  It's important to establish ownership.

As it was lunchtime, and Darby expressed a desire for hot dogs, we decided to venture to Sonic.  I was thinking we were going to take it home, but I got outvoted, so we hit the patio.  Luckily it was not as hot as I was afraid it would be, so it was a bearable venue.  Corn dogs and tots were on the menu.  It worked out pretty well.  Mommy tried the peanut butter oreo shake, which was quite good.  I felt bad because they sent some poor schlub out in a hot dog costume for the kids, but my children just looked at her like WTF and wouldn't have anything to do with her.  No hi-five, no wave, no "hi", no hug, no picture. No nothing but clinging to Mommy.  Clearly we're not ready for Disney (not that I have any inclination for that right now anyway).

Throughout the weekend, Dalton requested "Bailey House" about 600 times.  We eventually got there after nap, and had a really nice time as usual.

The other theme of the weekend was Despicable Me, Darby's new movie. Luckily (knock wood) she's yet to pick an annoying movie or TV show to watch.  My only complaint is that I have seen the beginning of these movies a thousand time and the end, like, once.  We always have to start at the beginning. It reminds me of the Sound of Music when I was growing up.  It was a family joke that I watched the beginning every year and never saw the end because it went on past my bedtime.  I never saw the end until I was a teenager and saw it in a revival theater.
