Christmas Day. Welcome to the Thunderdome.

So Christmas morning happened.  Shockingly, later than expected.  As a rule, Darby wakes up at 5:30, but she cut us a break and didn't wake up til 6:30.  And we were able to stall her until Dalton woke up at 7:30.  So it was a leisurely morning...

There was the expected Christmas carnage.  Darby had asked Santa for a FurReal puppy, a Barbie (or rather Barbie's little sister's) swingset and a pair of light-up shoes.  Dalton wanted a Kindle and a trash truck.  As expected, Santa delivered - despite dubious reports from Party the elf.

Dalton had some issues with his presents.  He decided to wear the Kaleidoscope like a unicorn horn, the robot box like an astronaut's helmet, and Daddy's stocking like a hood (that's him in that picture btw - see if you can pick him out...)

For her part, Darby was the perfect sweet angel...or at least that's what it looks like from these pictures... (not quite sure how that happened!)

I gave her my Holly Hobby doll from when I was little. She was very sweet and appeased me. Dalton enjoyed his new stretchy toy and the drums that Daddy got them (not quite sure what crack he's been smokin'...)

The morning's festivities went well. After the initial Bacchanalian celebration, there was a nice breakfast, and then the ultimate letdown of nap.

Then we went over to Nana and Pa's for dinner - which was awesome.

Ella had an incident with Pa's chair which put a big damper on her evening, but for everyone else, a lovely time.

Just as we left,  Mommy insisted on the now annual fireplace picture.  Some turned out friendlier than others...

  1. Who is on the witness protection program? OK, that isn't fair since you can't really answer that. Just kind of humorous to see a covered face.
